FOOTBALL: Blues won't be taking Cranes lightly
CONCEDING five to Swanage Town & Herston was a shock to the system for Portland United last weekend.
And they will be hoping for nothing of the sort tomorrow when struggling Cranborne are the visitors to Grove Corner (3pm).
“Cranborne are near the bottom and not having a great season,” said Blues’ boss Gary Bailey. “But we take each game on its own merits and every team poses a threat.
“When you’re near the top of the table, teams come to your ground and play their hearts out against you.”
Weymouth Reserves will be looking to bounce back at Mere Town tomorrow (3pm) following a 3-0 defeat at Hamworthy Rec-reation.
That loss was the Terras’ first in seven outings and Jake Richmond is confident his side will react to it in the right way.
The Weymouth manager said: “Mere away is going to be tough.
“They are very direct and are a difficult side to play against, but if we play like we know, we can we should be fine.
“The lads are a resilient bunch and I am sure we will bounce back.”
Matt Cafer is expected to line up in goal again for the Terras, who are also likely to have Carl McClements back up front.
Meanwhile, Robin Townsend is likely to ring the changes for his side’s clash against Poole Boro-ugh at St Mary’s Field.
Bridport Reserves suffered a 6-1 defeat at Mere last time out and their frustrated boss is expecting a response.
Townsend said: “At the mom-ent I just cannot tell what is going to happen one week to the next.
“After last Saturday’s second-half performance there may well be changes and, to be honest, no-one would be able to complain if there are. I’ll be looking for a big reaction and hopefully I’ll get one.”
Jack Scovell and Gary Bulman both missed the clash against Mere and could return this weekend.
In the Dorset Senior League, second-placed Chickerell United go to Piddletrenthide United, Portland United Reserves visit Blandford United Reserves and Upwey & Broadwey entertain South Cheriton (all 3pm).
