DORCHESTER gym owner Sean Ferguson finished his bodybuilding season on a high with success at two events this month.

Ferguson, who owns Physiques and Shapes in the county town, picked up a notable double in Bournemouth before he and gym instructor Elaine Keetch earned second places at the NAC UK Open British Championships just outside Manchester.

Ferguson competed in both the Masters over-40s class and his own height class at the More Muscle Expo in Bournemouth.

And his hard work in training obviously paid off as he scooped victories in both.

With those two triumphs under his belt, Ferguson decided to compete in Manchester and took spinning and aerobics instructor Keetch with him.

Keetch only started weight training under the guidance of Ferguson in April, beginning on one of the club’s eight-week transformation programmes.

This came with resistance training, which she had never experienced before.

As she had made so much progress and liked the results, she decided to try and take it a step further and compete in a bodybuilding show as a figure competitor – a figure competitor tends to be very toned but not overly muscular.

Over the next few months, the businesswoman continued to make some incredible changes to her body and thought about giving the Manchester show a try for the experience if nothing else.

However, she exceeded all expectations and managed an incredible second place.

Not to be outdone, Ferguson, an established bodybuilder, also finished second in the men’s class two category.

All in all, it turned out to be a great day for the Physiques and Shapes gym, where a number of people are being helped in reaching their personal training and fitness goals.
