Dorset Under-15 Cup Quarter-final

MERLEY COBHAM SPORTS 0

DORCHESTER TOWN TIGERS 1

KRISS Radivojsa’s penalty in the first half of extra-time earned the Tigers a place in the last four of the Dorset Youth Cup.

An in-swinging cross from Danny Kelly was handled by a Merley defender giving the referee very little choice but to point to the spot. That decisive moment came just minutes after visiting keeper Andrew Ennals made a fantastic point-blank save from the home side’s in-form striker.

The county town side dominated possession from the off and a Toby Pitman corner provided their best chance of the first period, only for Chris Ninham’s shot to fly just wide of the back post.

The Division Two side were even better after the restart and when Billy Evans’ pass found striker Casey Graham, his effort was saved by the outstanding Merley keeper.

The hosts then wrestled back the ascendancy but fine defending from Tom Mead, Josh Wilkinson, Alex Horne, Calum Joy and Tom Johnson kept the Division One outfit at bay before the final five minutes petered out to extra-time.

Meads’ skilful burst out of defence nearly found Ninham in a good position before Josh Eveleigh and Finn Gayton both saw shots blocked.

As time ticked down though, it was Merley that continued to press before man-of-the-match Radivojsa finally settled matters from the spot.
