MOBY Dick’s are now dreaming of silverware after seeing off Alexandra in an eight-goal thriller in the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup.

The two Weymouth Sunday League Premiership sides produced a fantastic quarter-final, which the Moby ended up winning 5-3 after extra-time.

The game was tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes but the Moby’s superior fitness told in the half-hour that followed, with their winning goals coming from Dan Sheppard, with two, Craig Park, Jon McKenzie and Luke Moorley.

Unfortunately, there was no such luck for Lazy Lizard as they crashed out 7-1 to Pilot FC.

The Moby have joined fellow Weymouth outfit Aura in the last four, which also includes Poole Wanderers.

The four clubs are still awaiting the draw for the semi-finals with the two ties scheduled to take place on March 9.

Meanwhile, in league action, Bar 314 are now six points clear at the top of the Premiership following a hard-fought win over Broadmayne.

The reigning champions, formerly known as the Rendezvous, have swept aside most teams so far this season but their latest opponents put up a great fight which belied their lowly position in the table.

In the end, fourth-bottom Broadmayne succumbed to strikes from Ricky Lane and Sam Nichols as Bar 314 made it nine wins from nine in their quest to retain the title.

Elsewhere, Stu Burley was once again among the goals for Britannia as they moved up to third, courtesy of a 3-1 win at Sailors Return.

Burley grabbed two on this occasion, and has now scored in the last eight league games to take his total to 17 for the season.

The Portlanders’ other strike came from Robert Squibb.

The only other league game that took place in this latest round of fixtures saw Dolphin secure a 1-1 draw against Famous Old Spa.
