WEYMOUTH Volleyball Club has finalised details of their European Tour with matches being confirmed in Strasbourg, Munich, Turin and Geneva.

The tour, scheduled between June 8 and June 17, will be immediately preceded by a two-day tournament in Dorking and a further two days in Canterbury where the squad will train and play the Kent side in preparation for their first taste of European action.

Instrumental in setting up the Continental fixtures has been Katja Gless, who now lives in Geneva.

Gless, pictured, has been a regular visitor to Weymouth over the years and played in the 2008 English Championship winning team Wessex-Team Bath and has reached the final of the Weymouth Beach Classic.

Gless has also agreed to play for Weymouth throughout the tour providing that her beach commitments don’t prevent her attendance.

Italian-born Weymouth captain Marta Cerri has also made contact with her former club in Turin and organised the Italian leg of the trip Weymouth will be travelling with a larger squad than usual due to the large number of matches to be played in 10 days.

They will be recruiting several guest players from the National League Super 8 Division to supplement the team and allow player rotation.

The squad will be coached by Ian Loke and will select from: Marta Cerri, Rossana Logodice, Chiara Martello, Katja Gless, Celia Gregory, Yuri Chadavagd, Yvonne Saker, Ramona Deinel, Nadine Klugge, Sam Wei Choi, Ilva Cinka, Anna Wachula, A N Other (x3).
