DORCHESTER Town's clash with Hayes & Yeading at the Avenue and Weymouth's home match against Chesham United today are both off as this week's heavy rain takes its toll on local football.

There were hopes yesterday that the Magpies game could take place but a pitch inspection this morning has ruled the waterlogged surface as unplayable.

It is the third time in recent weeks that rain has forced a Magpies match to be postponed after the Skrill South fixtures at Farnborough and Eastleigh were called off.

Weymouth's showdown with Chesham in the Calor Southern Premier at the Bob Lucas Stadium had passed an earlier pitch inspection but the constant rainfall this morning has caused the fixture to be postponed.

Elsewhere, Bridport's match at Hengrove Athletic in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division has gone, as has Bridport Reserves' home fixture against Shaftesbury Town in the Dorset Premier League.

In the same division, Portland United's game with Blandford United at Grove Corner and Weymouth Reserves’ trip to Sherborne Town Reserves are also postponed.

Meanwhile, the meeting between Upwey & Broadwey and Portland United Reserves in the Dorset Senior League has been called off, while Chickerell's home encounter with Okeford doesn't go ahead either.

In rugby, Dorchester's trip to Corsham in Southern Counties South has fallen to the wet weather as has the derby encounter between Dorchester Seconds and Weymouth Seconds at Coburg Road in Dorset & Wilts Two South.
