DORCHESTER 56 YEOVIL 10

DEAN Curtis, who had figured in the winning Leonard Denny rink for Dorchester the day before, turned his attention to skipping the Under-25 home four against Yeovil in the second round of the national inter-club competition.

Curtis had Louise Woodrow, Jack Corbin and Ben White in his rink, which set off at a gallop against the Yeovil four of Kayley Manns, Jack Goodland, Ben Francis and Macca Matravers, who had no time to settle as Dorchester took an opening five followed by winning scores of four, one and six to lead 17-0.

The game was virtually over before it started as the Dorchester quartet totally out-bowled their opponents.

Although they stuck to their uphill task with creditable determination, Yeovil could not make an impression on the home side, and with only 14 ends completed – and a country mile behind at 34-1 down – the match was conceded.

The Dorchester rink that travelled to Yeovil – Jack Woodrow, Melissa Makepeace, Emma Follis and skip George Spracklen – were equally ruthless against Yeovil hopefuls Courtney Seers, Peter Waring, Shannon Crouch and Tommie Partridge.

The county town four were never troubled as they recorded a 22-9 victory with their young promising bowlers giving a good all round performance, which also finished early.

Following their earlier close win over Moonfleet, a stronger challenge waits as their opponents will probably be the strong and experienced Torquay side.
