WEYMOUTH’S midfield options are looking very limited for tomorrow’s home clash with Corby Town (3pm).

Kyle Critchell, Dave Allen and Jamie Symes all remain sidelined while Scott Walker has been ruled out through suspension, leaving new player-boss Jason Matthews with a big selection headache ahead of his first game in permanent charge.

He told Echosport: “We are struggling for numbers as it is, so to lose Scott to a one-game ban for five bookings is a bit of a blow.

“It also makes my search to get someone in for tomorrow even more important.

“I have been making a lot of enquiries but whether something can be done in time, we will have to wait and see.

“There will certainly be some movement by next week.”

The Terras lost 3-1 at Corby earlier in the season but Matthews still feels that result was not a fair reflection of the game.

He added: “For the first 40 minutes we played really well at their place but we then conceded a goal at just the wrong time.

“Corby then added a second after the break through a deflected shot, which got their tails up, and from there we just couldn’t get back in it.

“I am fully expecting it to be another tough game tomorrow, but it is definitely a winnable one, and if we are to start climbing the table, these are the types of home games we need to be taking three points from.”

Due to three straight postponements, the Terras have not seen competitive action since their 2-1 win at Frome Town on December 28.

When asked whether that lay-off could have an adverse effect on his troops, Matthews said: “I hope not.

“It has actually allowed us a bit of time to work on a few things in training, which is something we haven’t always had.

“Tomorrow will be my first game in permanent charge and we will be looking to put in a big performance in front of a good crowd.”

Corby have experienced even worse problems with the weather. They have managed to complete just one fixture over the last 22 days, which resulted in a 2-0 home defeat against leaders Hemel Hempstead Town.

However, the Steelmen are still in pretty good form. They have lost just two of their last 10 games in the Southern Premier and have also collected 10 points from their last four on the road.

The Northamptonshire outfit currently sit one point and one place below the Terras in 16th spot with a game in hand.

Tomorrow’s fans’ forum has been brought forward to 5.45pm.

*Weymouth will host Hamworthy United in the last four of the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday, February 25 (7.45pm). The other semi-final tie will see Poole Town travel to Gillingham Town.
