THE Cougars secured a place in the last four of the County Cup thanks to a dominant display against the islanders.
Ryan Hanigan scored the only goal of the first half to give the Cougars a slender advantage going into the second period.
And the visitors strengthened their grip on the tie when Jake Hawker found the net soon after the interval to make it 2-0.
Nial Turner put the Cougars 3-0 up from the spot and then Toby Brown fired home a superb long-range effort for the Cougars’ fourth.
Portland battled back and made it 4-1 but that proved to be a mere consolation as the Weymouth side went through to the semi-finals.
