LYME Regis schoolgirl Mollie Hansford has been shortlisted for the Great Britain tetrathlon team.

Hansford, 17, has competed for the Cotley Pony Club since the age of eight and had her first taste of international success last summer when she represented Eng-land at two home internationals.

Following individual second and fifth place finishes at these events, plus a second at the National Triathlon Champion-ship, Hansford made the British tetrathlon long list before being shortlisted for a tour to Western Australia this summer.

Tetrathlon is a multi-event sport comprising pistol shooting, swimming, running and cross country riding, requiring dedication and many hours of training each week.

Hansford fits her training in alongside A level studies at The Woodroffe School and she has also recently taken up fencing with the aim to progress to modern pentathlon.

If she is lucky enough to be selected she will follow in the footsteps of her mum who represented the UK in the same sport in America and Canada, finishing both events on the winning team.

Hansford will attend a training course in April when the final decision is made.
