ADAM Kelly has agreed non-contract terms with the Terras and is expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow night’s trip to Cambridge City (7.45pm).

The versatile midfielder has been desperate to join the club and Jason Matthews is delighted to have him on board.

The Weymouth player-boss told Echosport: “Adam has agreed non-contract terms and all we are waiting for now is confirmation from the Southern League.

“He has been very keen to join us and is a bit of a ball player, which is exactly how I want us to play.

“He also knows a lot of the lads already having played alongside several of them before at the likes of Truro and Poole Town, so I am looking forward to seeing how he goes.

“I am also trying to bring in someone on loan but, for now, I can’t say anymore on that.

“As soon as there are any other updates we will let people know.”

Kelly, 25, has also had spells at Bashley, Salisbury City and Tiverton Town, and could prove a valuable addition, particularly following Danny Clay’s release, which was officially confirmed yesterday.

Matthews is currently short on numbers in midfield and with Luke Burbidge (hamstring) and Luke Winsper (ankle) still carrying knocks, Kelly’s first chance to shine could come sooner rather than later.

The Terras are also hoping to extend Jake Green’s stay by another month.

The full-back’s loan deal expired following Saturday’s win at Arlesey Town and Matthews is desperate to keep him.

He added: “We are still waiting to hear back from Bristol Rovers on that.

“Jake has been excellent for us and he is keen to play more games, so hopefully that will be sorted in time for him to feature at Cambridge.”

One man that will definitely return tomorrow is Barry Mc-Connell.

The experienced full-back missed the victory at Arlesey due to a family bereavement.

The Terras currently sit 12th in the Southern Premier Division, 19 points adrift of Cambridge, who lie third.
