WEYMOUTH LADIES v CLEEVE WEST TOWN

SUPPORTERS of women’s football are urged to make their way to Redlands tomorrow for Weymouth Ladies’ crucial clash against Cleeve West Town in the South West League Premier Division (2pm).

Both teams are currently struggling at the wrong end of the table and this weekend’s clash is one neither team can afford to lose.

Weymouth’s young squad have given themselves a great chance of staying up with a series of gutsy performances against teams that have far greater resources, and a win against Cleeve would all but ensure they achieve their goal of remaining in the league.

The Cafe Oasis-sponsored side are keen to get a bumper crowd to attend and give them vocal support.

It will be free admission for all, with the only proviso being that should the team manage to win the match then a donation will be asked for at the end of the game.

Sixteen girls are also being sought to be mascots for the day and they will be invited to meet the players, join in the pre-match warm up, lead the team out, have their own small-sided game prior to the match and have a photograph with the players.

Starting at 1pm, there will be free coaching on the pitch for any girl who would like to help to try and improve their game.

Sponsorship is also being sought and the team are keen to hear from any company who may be interested.

On to the match itself and Wey-mouth are doing all they can to prepare in the right way and have been doing extra fitness work this week, courtesy of Mick James, who runs Commando Fitness in Weymouth.

The ex-Royal Marine has be pushing the team to the limit.

In terms of the squad, Weymouth will be without inspirational midfielder Ella Walmsley, who has a long-term ankle injury and she will be missed. However, another injury victim, Elle Saunders, is striving to be fit.

The club’s flourishing youth policy will be at the forefront with local youngsters Beth Smith, Sharni Butcher, Annie Redding, Ellie Howard and Rebecca Vallard all likely to feature after making the step up from youth football this season.

Mascots, and those wanting to attend the coaching session, can register their interest by contacting Tim Davis on 07974885259 or alternatively email tim_wfc@live.co.uk Companies wishing to sponsor the occasion can do likewise.

Due to the Weymouth College pitch being waterlogged, the game has been moved to the 3G pitch at Redlands.
