WEST Dorset Warriors held their annual Open Meet at Dorchester Sports Centre for the second year running.

It was a great success for the club and all swimmers taking part with members achieving 79 personal best times, which was pleasing off the back of the recent club championships.

Beth Guy (14-15yrs) won the Top Warrior Award and was joint winner of Top Girl with Imogen Rogers (10-11yrs) of Ilminster Swimming Club.

Guy won the 100m breaststroke and claimed silvers in the 50m breaststroke, 50m and 100m butterfly, and 100m individual medley. She was also third in the 50m backstroke.

In the same age group, Lauren Oddy won the 50m and 100m freestyle, and 50m and 100m backstroke.

Not to be outdone, Lauren O’Toole (12-13yrs) won a hat-trick of golds as she claimed victory in the 50m and 100m butterfly as well as the 100m freestyle.

She also picked up silver in the 50m freestyle.

Adelaide Elsom (10-11yrs) improved on her personal best time in the 100m butterfly by more than six seconds to come third.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ section, the 16 years and over age group produced some superb performances.

Club captain Luke Voss won the 50m and 100m butterfly, the 100m individual medley, and was equal first in the 50m freestyle. He was also second in the 100m freestyle.

Peter Horne tied with Voss in the 50m freestyle, came second in the 50m and 100m butterfly, and third in the 100m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Also in the mix was Matt Cracknell who triumphed in the 50m breaststroke, finished second in the 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley, and was third in the 50m freestyle.

Elliott Smart came second in the 100m backstroke and third in the 50m breaststroke.

Elsewhere, Charlie Hitchcock (14-15yrs) swam well to claim a brace of golds in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Dan Felton won the 100m individual medley in the same age category and he was runner-up over the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, and third in the 50m butterfly.

George Green (10-11yrs) came third in the 50m butterfly, Reuben Elcock (12-13yrs) was third in both the 50m butterfly and freestyle, while Robert Munday (12-13yrs) of Wareham Swimming Club won Top Boy at the meet.
