TREVOR Senior is after a big reaction from his Bees following their derby defeat at Sherborne Town.

Ryan Dovell found the target late on for Bridport but only after Matt Day had put Sherborne two up with a well-taken brace.

Senior was bitterly disappointed by the midweek performance and has even gone as far to question the desire of several of his players.

Commenting on the 2-1 defeat, the Bridport boss told Echosport: “I have never seen us give the ball away so much.

“Sherborne are very direct, they smother you in midfield and they have a bit of pace up front, and we failed to deal with it.

“Matt Day took both his goals really well and we didn’t really start playing until the last five minutes.

“Ryan got on the end of a cross to pull one back and we did have a chance to snatch a draw right at the end but overall it was just not good enough.

“We need to start showing a lot more desire in games.

“When we go behind we don’t seem to have enough leaders out there and sometimes I wonder how much it means to the majority.

“We have to put that result behind us now but I am certainly expecting a reaction, starting on Saturday at Slimbridge (3pm).”

The trip to the Toolstation Western Premier Division newcomers is the first of five matches scheduled for the Bees in February and Senior is fully aware of just how important this period could prove to be.

He added: “We drew 1-1 with Slimbridge earlier in the season but we probably should have won it.

“They scored against the run of play and we didn’t play very well that day.“Since then they have picked up and had some good results, and the fact they are near us in the table makes it a bit of a six-pointer.

“It’s a big month for us. We are playing a lot of teams around us in the league and we know we need to do well against them."

Chris Senior and Ashley Staines are unavailable tomorrow due to work commitments but Sam Filkins is back in goal and Gary Bulman should return from injury.

Bridport currently sit 12th in the Premier Division table, five points and four places above Slimbridge, having played two games more.
