THE only way the Terras are going to break the Glassboys’ hold over them is by going for the jugular, according to Jason Matthews.

The Weymouth boss wants his troops to go on the offensive at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm) even though their last three meetings with Stourbridge have all ended in embarrassment.

Not only did the Terras lose 7-0 at the War Memorial Athletic Ground back in November but they also went down 5-0 and 5-1 to the same opposition just last season – a trend Matthews is keen to end.

He told Echosport: “It would be nice to break that run and, in order to do that, we are going to need to take the game to them.

“We played some good stuff at Bashley on Tuesday night before the match got abandoned and I want us to build on that.

“Stourbridge are clearly going to be a very different proposition but I’m not sure if we are good enough just to sit back and defend.

“Instead we need to force our game on to them and try and put them on the back foot.

“That is the way I want us to go now, so I can see exactly what we’ve got.”

Weymouth have picked up 13 points from a possible 18 since Matthews took charge but tomorrow could well be his biggest challenge yet.

He added: “It’s another chance for me to pit my wits against a top side.

“I got the opportunity to do that against Poole Town on Boxing Day and, for me, this game is going to be just as much of a test, if not more of one.

“Stourbridge have a lot of firepower but we have been looking sharp in front of goal too and I have no doubts that we can cause them problems.

“Niall Thompson has come in and given us a different dimension with his frightening pace and everyone has been looking good in training, so hopefully we can go out there tomorrow and get a result.”

Luke Winsper and Ashley Wells are both fit to feature for the Terras but Simon Evans, Kyle Critchell, Jamie Symes, Dave Allen and Mark Ford all remain sidelined.

Stourbridge currently sit sixth in the Calor Southern Premier Division and are the second highest scorers in the league with 68 goals from 27 games. The Terras lie 13th, 11 points adrift of the Glassboys with three games in hand.
