MIDFIELD warrior Jamie Gleeson has expressed his gratitude to the Dorchester Town fans for their support during such testing times at the Avenue.

Speaking to Echosport, Gleeson praised the Magpies’ faithful, including those who continue to travel across the country to back their team.

The fans haven’t had much to shout about this season with their side propping up the Skrill South table, four points adrift of Gosport Borough, the team sitting directly above them.

Gleeson and his team-mates have a chance to start turning things around today when they travel to Eastbourne Borough (3pm), and the midfielder is eager to give the fans reason to cheer.

“I would like to say thanks to all the fans,” he said. “They make their way to games and we can hear them on the pitch regardless of whether we are winning or losing.

“It’s not easy being a Dorchester Town supporter at the moment but they have been brilliant and I would like to say a proper thank you because they have been great.

“As fans, they pay to watch games and travel all over the country, even when we’re not getting the results we want.”

He went on to add: "It’s so hard at the moment but you can’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself.

“We’ve just got to keep positive because it can all change – it has to change otherwise the inevitable will happen.

“The aim is to stay in Conference South and if you win one game things could change.

“Getting the initial result is hard because there are no easy games in this league.

“But we could have won that game on last Saturday. It was frustrating because Farnborough were not that much better than us.”

Gleeson also praised the loan signing of Nathan Walker, a player he rates very highly having played with him a number of times during his previous spell with the Magpies.

“It helps having Nathan back to steady the ship,” he added. “He makes a lot of difference.

“When he first signed it was probably the best signing the club had made since I joined.”
