NORTH DORSET 26 DORCHESTER 5

ANOTHER day, another gutsy Dorchester performance full of spirit and heart, but yet another defeat.

In a game played out in dreadful conditions, Dorchester met the elements head on in the first period.

Despite an outstanding performance by the pack, it was no surprise that the visitors spent the majority of the half on the defence.

Three tries, two of them converted, put the hosts 19 points to the good.

Dorchester, however, had several chances to score too and it was no great surprise when prop Stephen Hodgson forced his way over for a try.

North Dorset added a further converted try before the break as conditions got even worse.

With the gale at their backs in the second half, Dorchester spent the entire 40 minutes in North Dorset territory.

However, despite going ext-remely close on numerous occasions, they were unable to break through the hosts’ determined defence.

Martyn Peel’s side must now prepare for the visit of Wim-borne to Coburg Road this coming Saturday as their search for a third victory of the Southern Counties South season goes on.
