WEYMOUTH’S own Robbie Nitro regained the vacant Dorset Middleweight Championship with a bruising victory over Marcus Graves in a strap match at Redlands Sports Hub.

The win was especially pleasing for Nitro after Graves had played a part in him losing the belt to Mike Madness, who then relinquished the title.

In a strap match, both wrest-lers are linked together by a leather strap and the winner is the first man to tap all four corner pads of the ring.

The contest turned out to be a real war of attrition but the key moment came when Nitro took Graves to the ground with a clothes line off the ropes.

That battle was just one of several the crowd enjoyed on the night, with plenty of action keeping the fans interested.

Devon’s finest Chris Andrews was edged out by TNA Wrestling star and British cruiserweight king Marty Scurll, and Phil Powers came out on top in a special 15-man rumble.

There were appearances from ex-WWE NXT star Zulu Warrior, the flamboyant Mr USA, and local favourite Charleston in a six-man elimination match which also featured Powers – Zulu Warrior got the all-important pin to win it for his team.

Not to be outdone, Andy Boy Simmons got the better of Jivin Jay Knox at a venue that proved to be a real winner with the fans and promoters of Suplex Wrest-ling.

And while Nitro could toast his success, there was also a big moment for his stepson, Nitro Junior, who took part in the rumble before being eliminated by Mr USA.

“It went well considering the weather was pretty bad,” said Nitro, real name Robbie Constant. “We put 140 chairs out and filled every one so it wasn’t bad for a new venue, at this time of year, and the weather wasn’t good.

“People came because they support the wrestlers and every single one of them was top notch.

“My fight was an epic battle and my step son did remarkably well in the rumble.”
