POOR defending cost the Terras yet again last night as they suffered a 4-2 defeat against Chesham United

Chris Dillon netted three of the goals for the promotion-chasing Generals and they would have had a lot more had it not been for several fine saves from Jason Matthews.

The Terras did show plenty of fight in the second half but their player-manager was still far from happy at the final whistle.

Matthews told Echosport: “Once again we didn’t defend well enough and I seem to be saying that after every game at the moment.

“We changed the system to 3-5-2 to try and combat their attacking threat but we allowed them to get down the sides of us too much and paid the price.

“We then went back to 4-4-2 after the break and when George Rigg pulled one back with an outstanding goal it seemed to give us a bit more belief.

“Stewart Yetton then made it 3-2 after a good move but they then went and got a fourth to kill the game off.

“We had a lot of youngsters out there last night that are still learning and the last thing I want to do is destroy them.

“That is just where we are at the moment and all we can do is move on now to another massive game at the leaders Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.”

The Terras now lie 11th in the Calor Southern Premier Division while Chesham sit second, just five points off the top.
