JASON Matthews could add more new blood to his Terras’ squad in time for the visit of beleaguered Bashley to the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

The Weymouth player-manager told Echosport yesterday that he was hoping to bring in a defender and striker ahead of the Calor Southern Premier fixture.

This weekend’s encounter is the first of a double header between the Terras and Bashley in the space of four days, with the rearranged league game in Hampshire next Tuesday.

Weymouth fans will be expecting maximum points from the two meetings, something the Terras have already achieved this season against Frome, Totton, Bedford and Arlesey.

Bashley, on the other hand, have just four victories in the league this term and have been beset by financial problems.

But Matthews insists his players will not take anything for granted, especially as he feels their opponents can be dangerous going forward.

“They haven’t got a lot to lose,” he said. “They do attack well and we’ll be treating them with the respect they deserve.

“I feel it’s more about how we play, and if we play well we are a match for any side.”

He continued: “I don’t always think it’s a good thing to play a team twice so close together.

“If you do well in the first game it makes them more determined to do well against you in the second.

“I’m not going to set us a target for the two games but I’d like to think we can win them.”

Adam Kelly returns from injury for the hosts, who have lost four of the last five, including a 4-1 loss at Hemel Hempstead in their previous outing.

“We just need to tighten things up,” Matthews added. “That starts from me and goes through to Stewart Yetton.

“At times we do have a lot of possession, but we haven’t made the most of it.

“Some of the goals we concede have been when we’ve been caught on the break and that’s something we need to address.”

Weymouth have not had the best of luck against Bashley this season.

Their Red Insure Cup tie had to be rearranged after the original game was postponed because of floodlight failure.

Then the first league clash earlier this year was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch in Hampshire – there was also another power cut as well.
