Under-15 Division Two

BLANDFORD RANGERS 0 DORCHESTER TOWN TIGERS 1

FINN Gayton’s goal gave Dorchester Tigers the Division Two title at Blandford on Sunday.

The Tigers created plenty of chances in the first half, with strikers Chris Ninhan, Gayton and Casey Graham going closest to scoring.

Blandford had their opportunities too but Tigers’ keeper Andrew Ennals made three fine saves from point-blank range, including one which he pushed on to the post.

Graham flashed a low volley from outside the box narr-owly wide and fine defensive play in the closing stages of the first half from Tom Mead and Josh Wilkinson ensured a nail-biting second period.

Blandford began the second half on the offensive and were almost rewarded when a cut-back deflected towards goal off a Rangers striker, but man of the match Ennals clawed the ball away.

With chances few and far between, the visitors were looking to their more creative players to unlock the door.

The hosts remained a threat on the break and almost took the lead when their striker stroked an effort inches wide.

Then, with eight minutes remaining, came the moment the Tigers had been waiting for.

A low cut-back from Ninham found Gayton and he side-footed the ball into the far corner to secure the title for the county town side.
