JAMIE Gleeson has been left cursing his luck again after being kept out of the Magpies’ trouncing at Eastleigh by a knee injury.

He will have treatment on the problem at training tonight and is hopeful the ailment won’t make him miss this weekend’s visit to Basing-stoke.

The midfielder tweaked a knee during the draw with Sutton last weekend and, although he travelled to the Silverlake Stadium on Tues-day, he wasn’t risked by boss Phil Simkin.

“I said to Phil that I would play if he wanted me to but, with a knee injury, if you make it worse you can make it really bad so you have to look after yourself,” he said.

“There might be a chance of playing on Saturday. Phil said he would play me if I’m right but if not then I’d have to wait until next Tuesday.

“Not playing just gets you down a bit but you can’t do anything about it. I’ll have treatment at the club tonight, that’s all I can do really.”

Watching his side lose 6-0 at Eastleigh made missing the match even more difficult for Gleeson.

He added: “It was a hard one to watch. Eastleigh are one of the best sides in our league and I think they will win it. We have to keep going because you never know what might happen – it would be some feat if we could stay up.”
