ELLIE Wilcox, Aidan Turner and Joshua Brunell were the toast of Weymouth Swimming Club (WSC) after picking up medals at the Dorset County Championships.

Wilcox swam a tremendous 100m backstroke to win silver before a rapid 50m backstroke earned her bronze.

There was also a bronze for Turner in the 200m backstroke, while Brunell clinched bronze medals in the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke.

WSC entered 22 swimmers at this year’s championships which were held at Littledown Centre, Bournemouth and Dorchester Sports Centre.

The event takes place across three gruelling weekends and entry is by invitation only for those who have achieved fast enough qualifying times over the previous year – Nial Turner and Brunell qualified for a massive 12 events each.

Some impressive results were achieved by WSC swimmers, who cannot swim more than six hours a week in the Weymouth pool during club training sessions.

As well as medals for the top three in each event, ribbons are presented to those making the first eight.
