TERRAS: Yetton set for Truro return
TERRAS’ forward Stewart Yetton claims it will be an emotional return to his old stomping ground tonight, as he leads Weymouth into battle against former club Truro City at Treyew Road (7.45pm).
The ex-Tigers’ striker netted 226 times in 315 games during a lengthy stay at the Cornish outfit before he joined the Terras at the start of this season.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he told Echosport. “After being there for so long and having loads of success, it will be a strange one going into the away dressing room.
“It will probably bring up some emotions but I am just going to enjoy it, and hopefully we can go there and get the win.”
Yetton, who currently has 23 league goals to his name this season, insisted that to score against his former club would not trigger any further reaction.
He added: “I haven’t really thought about it to be honest, I certainly wouldn’t be overzealous and out of respect I wouldn’t over celebrate if I scored.
“But similarly out of respect for our fans I want to celebrate all my goals, it’s getting the balance right. If I score a 94th minute winner it would obviously mean a lot but I’m not going to do anything silly.
“To score against them probably wouldn’t mean any more to me, and at the end of the day we have got a job to do which is the most important thing.”
Weymouth will be without Charlie Holland following the head wound he suffered on Saturday against Hungerford Town.
Defender Jake Hutchings will also face a fitness test as he nurses an ankle problem and Sam Poole could be brought back into the squad.
On tonight’s game, manager Jason Matthews added: “It’s important to get back up after Saturday’s defeat and get some winning momentum again.
“The higher we finish in the league at the end, the easier it could be for us to attract players for next season.”
