THE Royal Yachting Association’s premier youth racing event, the Youth National Championships, starts on Saturday and runs until April 18 at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA).
The WPNSA will be home to 384 children, the best youth dinghy and windsurfing talent from across the country.
This year sees the biggest entry in the history of the RYA Youth National Championships and, as well as the 272 entries confirmed, there will be a massive 170 RYA staff and volunteers at the WPNSA to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Six different classes will be in action in Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour across four race courses.
The racing will be highly charged as selection for the British Youth Sailing Team will be up for grabs – the team will represent Great Britain at the 2014 Youth World Championships in Tavira, Portugal.
On Thursday, the Princess Royal will be visiting the event to meet competitors and watch some of the racing. For further information, visit wpnsa.org.uk
