BRIDPORT boss Trevor Senior has praised Matt Morley following a succession of eye-catching displays in recent weeks.

Morley has come off the bench in the Bees’ last three games and had an impact in all of them, including setting up Chris Luke’s late winner against Cadbury Heath.

The versatile ex-Weymouth man will be hoping his current form is good enough to earn a place in Senior’s starting line-up tomorrow when Bitton are the visitors to St Mary’s Field (3.07pm).

“Matt has been left out a few times but instead of sulking he has taken it on the chin and worked hard to get back in,” said Senior.

“When he has come on he has made an impact. He set up the winning goal last Saturday and had a hand in the goals on Tuesday.

“If you’ve got pace it can make a hell of a difference and he has got it in abundance.

“He is learning all the time and I think he’s had a great season.

“He has played in 20-plus games for us in his first season at the club and has been a big part of the squad.

“He has said he is happy to stay with us next season and most of the lads have said the same.”

Ryan Dovell is a major doubt for tomorrow’s clash after going off with a hamstring strain during the 4-2 defeat at Odd Down (Bath) on Tuesday.

Defender Darren Watts (knee) is also a concern for Senior, though Sean Stewart returns and Chris Senior should be available.

Bitton, sixth in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division table, are in the middle of an inconsistent run of form.

After beating league leaders Larkhall Athletic at the end of last month, they then saw off Hallen before losing to Sherborne and drawing with Slimbridge on Tuesday.

Goals from loan signing Steve Smith and Dan Wise gave Bridport a 2-1 win when the sides met way back in September.

Senior added: “We’ll look to make home advantage count and try to bounce back after Tues-day’s result.

“We didn’t play badly, it was just that Odd Down were good going forward.”

Bridport are also in action next Tuesday when they face an away fixture against Radstock Town.
