WARREN Byerley is preparing himself for battle, as Dorchester fight to save themselves from almost certain relegation at home to Farnborough today (3.07pm).

The Magpies, who have scored just once in their last five league contests, must win to have any realistic chance of avoiding the drop.

“In the back of your mind you always want to make a difference,” Byerley told Echosport.

The chance of netting a winning goal to give his side a much-needed lifeline is something the striker is keen to deliver.

He said: “To score the winner would be brilliant, you can’t beat stuff like that but I’d just be happy if we got the win.

“We have struggled to score first or even score at all but we just need to try and create a bit more, be a bit more attacking and have real go at them.”

On the spirit in the squad ahead of the clash, he added: “I don’t think that getting up for the game will be a problem, we go into every game with the same mentality and we still have a chance.

“We just have to do anything and everything we can, work as hard as possible, fight for every ball, fight for every second ball, and get the crowd behind us.

“It’s all about our performance, we will obviously be looking at who does what in games elsewhere but personally we just have to go out and get the three points.

“Although things don’t look good, you have got to keep going and keep fighting.”
