JAMIE Gleeson’s loyalty to Dorchester Town will be rewarded with a testimonial this summer after the midfielder committed himself to the club for another season.

Hailed as “Mr Consistency” by boss Phil Simkin, the 2014-15 campaign is going to be Gleeson’s 10th as a Magpie, in which time he has made more than 300 appearances.

Plans for a pre-season testimonial match to honour his decade at the Avenue are taking place, and Simkin feels it is something Gleeson “thoroughly deserves”.

“Glees has signed a new contract for next season regardless of what division we’re in because he wants to be at this club,” said the Dorchester boss.

“Other clubs wanted to sign him but he loves it at this club, and it’s a great coup for us given the situation we’re in that he has decided to stay.

“I can’t remember him having a bad game, he is ‘Mr Consistency’, a player’s player who doesn’t always get the appreciation he deserves.

“Arrangements for his testimonial have taken off and it’s one he thoroughly des-erves.”

The news of Gleeson’s decision to sign a new deal comes after Jake Smeeton and Nick Crittenden did likewise.
