INEXPERIENCE was a vital factor in Weymouth’s 2-1 home defeat to St Neots Town, claimed Jason Matthews.
The Terras’ boss, who pulled off a string of first-half saves to keep his side in the hunt on Saturday, expressed the need to bring some more seasoned faces into the dressing room for next season.
He told Echosport: “I felt we lacked a little bit of experience, which we have known for quite a while now.
“We are under no illusions that we need to address that, but I still back my young side and there were still some good performances out there.
“In the main starting XI there is only really me and Yetts (Stewart Yetton) that are really experienced.
“I know that, the lads know that, and it’s up to me to address it in the summer.”
On the game itself, the Terras’ boss added: “We didn’t start well and we gave them the upper hand. They had a couple of chances and we got away with it early doors.
“I wouldn’t say our heads went down after the second goal but the momentum swung back their way and they saw things out quite comfortably after that.
“It’s three games now that we have lost 2-1 which we could have easily won, and for me that reflects our season to be honest.”
- Meanwhile, striker Ben Joyce has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season via Twitter.
