WEYMOUTH AS

MEMBERS of Weymouth AS held their first Thursday night boat league match and with only three hours of fishing time every prize really counts in this catch-and-release competition.

Ryan Casey took top honours with five species and 210 points.

Casey is also a fine shore angler and despite only being 17 years of age, is often fishing at the top level and has now been selected to appear for England’s youth team.

Ten species were caught on the night including ballen wrasse and dogfish.

Runner-up was Ray Goodwin with 150 points and four species and Mike Hussey took third with 120 points and four spec-ies.

A new member to boat fishing was Sam Warren, 13, who managed a catch of dogfish, ballen wrasse and a thornback ray.
