BRIDPORT v HENGROVE ATHLETIC

BRIDPORT can surpass last season’s tally of league points if they avoid defeat in their final home game of the campaign against Hengrove Athletic tomorrow (3pm).

Victory at Gillingham Town on Easter Monday saw the Bees move to 47 points – the total they finished the 2012/13 season with – as they gear up for their penultimate fixture this term.

And this weekend’s opponents Hengrove, bottom of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, are a side the Bees have already beaten twice this season.

Trevor Senior’s men got the better of the Bristol outfit in the FA Cup back in August before a victory in the league in March.

Darren Watts and Max Buckler are set to return to the squad after missing the Gills win, but Matt Condliffe (suspension), Ryan Dovell (injury) and Chris Senior (unavailable) will not feature.

“They are bottom and obviously scrapping for points, and probably have to beat us to stay up,” said Senior.

“After Monday’s win we are going into it with confidence and hopefully we can give the fans something to shout about.

“We said before the Gillingham game that it would be nice to get three wins to finish the season, and three points tomorrow would put us on 50 which would be good.”

Hengrove are on a dismal run of form having lost their last eight and 12 out of the last 13.

Bridport end their season with a trip to Slimbridge a week on Saturday with hopes of taking the total number of points accrued on the road this campaign to 30.
