ISAAC Vassell reviewed his time on loan with the Terras’ and insisted it was the best club he had been on loan at to date.

The 20-year-old Newquay-born prospect, who made an instant impact on his arrival to the club from Plymouth Argyle in March, netted five times and scooped a player of the month award during a 12-game stint with the Terras.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a great experience with a good group of lads,” he told Echosport.

“It was probably the best club I have been on loan at, I played better within the team and fitted well within the system at Wey-mouth. I was a lot more effective and was able to use my attributes to show people what I could do.

“The goal away at Bashley was a highlight for me, I had a bit of space and my dad always tells me that if I have the opportunity, just shoot. The opportunity arose and I just put my laces through it, made a good connection and it flew in the top corner which is always good.

Vassell was also keen to thank Terras’ manager Jason Matthews for giving him the chance to get some game time.

He added: “Jason isn’t really afraid to use youth, we had quite a few young lads in the squad and I liked the fact he wasn’t afraid to put us in and I felt we were effective.

“He played me in the best position he could have and I felt he really got the best out of me.

“I’d like to thank the club for the opportunity and for giving me the chance to play and I’d like to thank the fans as well for their support.

“It’s a good club, I like the way it is set up and it was good to play football for them.”

Vassell is now waiting to see if Pilgrims’ boss John Sheridan will offer him a new deal for next term.

Terras’ boss Matthews also confirmed that the club will be hosting Plymouth Argyle in a pre-season friendly at the Bob Lucas Stadium on July 19.

With the Pilgrims planning to bring their first-team squad for the fixture, Matthews added: “I’m delighted, Plymouth are happy with how we have treated their players this year and it is chance for our fans to see a League club in action against us.”

The club have also announced that they will host Gloucester City in another friendly on August 2.
