WEYMOUTH Women start their summer fixtures this weekend in what will be their busiest ever season.

The team is now recognised as being at an elite level and, as such, have entry to all of the top tournaments.

Starting off though, Weymouth will play an extended match against New Forest to help the Hampshire- based team in preparation for their National League promotion play-offs.

The match will be played at the Ashcombe School Dorking tomorrow (noon).

Although New Forest are three divisions lower than Weymouth, the match is expected to be a close affair because the Forest club have recruited a number of players with Super Eight experience.

The Hampshire-based club are favourites to gain promotion from their current NVL Division.

Weymouth, on the other hand, will be hoping to continue the success of last summer, and, to that end, have made several new signings.

Lisa Wendt has signed from Loughborough Dolphins and, although not available this weekend, will feature in Weymouth matches in Munich, Turin and Geneva during the club’s European Tour.

Also coming into the squad is the experienced setter Carol Fogarty who played the last Super Eight season for Ashcombe and Renata Hudakova and joins from London-based club Dulwich Tuskers.

Missing from Weymouth’s line-up this weekend will be the Italian trio of Marta Cerri, Rossana Logudice, and Chiara Martello who are unavailable due to Continental commitments.

However, they are expected to return at the end of the month when Weymouth have their first major tournament.

Weymouth will face Surrey Orcas, Hertfordshire, Ashcombe, Polonia, Guildford and Worthing in that event.

Weymouth stalwart Ramona Dienel will also be missing as she turns out for New Forest this weekend, due the fact that she played National League for the club last season so will feature in club's National League play-off match.
