THE season is virtually over for another year and despite one or two matches still to be played, the positions at the top and bottom of each division have been decided.

Astonishingly, there is a player in each division that has an unblemished record.

In Division One, Hawks’ Simon Joslin is unbeaten from 29 games, John Ryan of Preston B claims a 30-game winning streak in Division Two and in Division Three, Derek Wheeler of Shipton Gorge C has played 21 games without defeat.

DIVISION ONE

CHAMPIONS this year are Wyke A and it seems set that the runners-up for the third year running are YMCA.

Red Triangle got off to a very slow start this year and have got two of their matches left to play, as have the Hawks, who could theoretically claim second position if they win their remaining matches by 30 points.

DIVISION TWO

BUDMOUTH A have sealed back-to-back promotions as they secured this year’s Division Two title.

Pilgrims A had a mathematical chance to take the lead going into their last match against Bud-mouth B, needing to gain 26 points from the match, but they came up against the unstoppable and very competitive John Ryan, who managed to win all his matches leaving Pilgrims disappointed.

This division was particularly close with four teams in the running for the top spot.

DIVISION THREE

Another Budmouth team has triumphed in Division Three with an outstanding 31-point winning margin.

The most pleasing performance of them all was the position of the youngsters from All Saints school who, after a shaky start, managed to climb the league steadily.

It has been an entertaining season with the youth players of Budmouth and All Saints showing the rest how to do it, not only in the league but on the county scene as well.

The league’s AGM is due to be held on Wednesday May 21 at the Springfield Club, all players are invited and the prize-giving will take place at the same time.

Nominations for the post of league secretary and league treasurer are invited, if you would like to stand for either of these posts or would like to nominate somebody for these positions then contact Andy Millar or any member of the committee via the league’s website.
