WEYMOUTH Swimming Club hosted the first round of the Southern Junior league.

This gave the young competitors the opportunity to shine in front of their home audience and they did not disappoint.

Against very strong opposition, Weymouth displayed determination and a great team spirit.

Jacob Watson took first place in the 50m butterfly and second in the 50m freestyle, both events giving him personal best times (pbs).

Ben Kinsey also pulled out a personal best to take first in the 50m breaststroke as did Aidan Watson who bagged first in the 50m breaststroke.

Third-placed spots with pbs were claimed by Megan Wilk-inson in the 50m breaststroke, George Cartwright (50m backstroke), Grace Usher (50m breaststroke), Alasara James (50m freestyle), Alice Adams (50m backstroke) and Rhiannon Carter (50m freestyle).

Also finishing third were Ellie Wilcox (50m backstroke), Daniel Kingman (50m butterfly) and Ellie Hope (50m breaststroke).

The relay teams made up valuable points, WSC taking four second places and four thirds, to give them an overall position of fourth, just above their local rivals in this round, which will add to the excitement and competitive spirit for the following two rounds.
