PORTLAND Red Triangle will be looking to build on opening day triumphs for both teams and maintain their respective winning records this weekend as each outfit faces up to Cerne Valley (1.30pm).

The first team host Cerne Valley’s first XI at Reforne in County Division Two following their monumental triumph over Dorchester Seconds last time out, thanks to an impressive batting display from Simon Proffitt.

And the club’s second team travel to Cerne Valley Seconds full of confidence after last week’s comfortable win against Corfe Mullen Seconds.

Hard-hitting all rounder Phil Eaton makes his debut for the second team, along with 15-year-old Lukin Wilson, another product of the club’s youth section.

Second XI skipper Grant Neven knows that Cerne will be a tough challenge but is confident that his charges will once again produce the goods.

He said: “We performed well last week and expect a tough game this week. We have a strong team full of proven match-winners and fear no one.

“We can’t be complacent and must play to our potential, give 100 per cent and hopefully emerge victorious.”

With the rest of the division washed out last weekend, Portland lead the way at the top of the County Division Four pile with 17 points.

After a washout last week, Bridport will be looking to get their league campaign underway when they are scheduled to travel to Kingston Lacy in County Division Three tomorrow (1.30pm).
