OVERNIGHT rain has meant that both Weymouth and Dorchester's opening home fixtures of the season have been called off today.
The Seasiders announced the cancellation on Twitter, they said: “First team game at Redlands cancelled. After an inspection this morning the Redlands groundsman has declared the pitch unfit.”
Weymouth’s next encounter in Dorset Premier One comes next weekend when they take on Swanage.
Meanwhile, Dorchester’s strong start to the season has also been halted by the weather, as skipper Dan Belt confirmed to Echosport that their home game against Blandford has also been called off.
Belt will have to wait a week to try and secure another Dorset Premier Two victory, as his side face a trip to Wimborne & Colehill Seconds next Saturday.
