WEYMOUTH’S Billy Hathway has being selected to represent Dorset in the SWCGA Under-14/16 Strokeplay Championships at Taunton Vale Golf Club on May 30.

The championship consists of teams from Devon, Somerset, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Glouces-tershire with the best seven gross scores counting.

There is also an individual event for both under-14 (gross and nett) for the prestigious Ian Clark Trophy) and under-16 (gross).

RESULTS

Sharon Rand won the Coronation Salver (gross 93, nett 70); Runner-up: Sally Davis Gross 84 (nett 71); Third: Julia Miles after countback (gross 107, nett 71); Maria Woodham won the Wilson Cup (35 points); Runner-up: Jackie Taylor (33 after countback).

The ladies’ Granny Plate Stableford was won by Dilys Grant who came out on top with one point separating the top six ‘grannies’ across the two divisions.

This is a much-sought after trophy, which was designed and painted by Jennifer Kimberley RESULT 1 Dilys Grant (30pts), 2 Jennifer Kimberley (29).

The April Tankard was won by Nobby Clark, with a gross 74 (nett 69), which means it will be Gary King who will be playing with Des Lochrie in the Lombard Trophy at either Parkstone or Burnham & Berrow.

Division Two: 1 P Dagger (nett 69), 2 A Turrell (nett 70), 3 E Carter (nett 72).

Division Three: 1 G Davidson (nett 74), 2 J Hicks (nett 77), 3 J Mockford (nett 80).

A very competitive Centurion Trophy Four-ball Betterball was won by Tim Stevens and Paul Dashwood, beating last year’s Charity Week winn- ers Frank Martin and Don Philpott on the back nine with both teams finishing on 41 points.

The first seniors’ Stableford took place and it was won by Richard Tucker with a massive 43 points.

There was a four-way battle in Division Two with back nine scores having to be decided for the top-three places.

Division One: 1 R Tucker (43pts), 2 J Rudall (36pts), 3 R Taylor (35pts).

Division Two: 1 J Everett (33pts), 2 N McColm (33pts), 3 M Lee (33pts).
