CASTERBRIDGE Under-15 girls have returned from another successful football tournament in Great Yarmouth run by Weymouth’s SCI Football Tours.

The tournament was well attended by more than 96 teams from all over the UK and, in the girls’ section, Casterbridge came up against teams from Norfolk and Berkshire and the level of football was of a very high standard.

At the end of the first day of the tournament, the girls were in third position overall and could be proud of their achievement.

And although the county town girls played really well on the second day, they were unable to break into the top three as other results didn’t go their way.

The Casterbridge side were fortunate to meet the former Leeds and England defender Danny Mills at the presentation evening and came away with the Fair Play Trophy as voted for by the referees.

This is the third consecutive year that the girls have picked up the fair play award and shows that they are a great team with good focussed passion and commitment.

Casterbridge would like to thank Mike at Stylish Stitches Weymouth for sponsoring the team this year and supplying the team wear.

If any girls in school Years Nine and 10 would like to try girls’ football, contact Casterbridge FC either by emailing or by telephoning 260111.
