SOUTHSIDE Angels Under-13s travelled to Frome in high spirits after clinching the Dorset League title the previous week.

With teams from all over Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset taking part in the tournament at West Woodlands Showground, the Angels knew they could take nothing for granted.

However, they came through a tough group on top, winning two matches and drawing the other.

The quarter-final against a very resilient Frome side went all the way to a penalty shoot-out which the Angels won 3-2.

Stand-in keeper Kerrie Dyer made a great save and the ice cool trio of Sian Atkinson, Madi Stringer and Amber Lane converted from the spot.

The Angels went all out to book their place in the final when their last-four meeting with Westbury Amazons got under way, and they eased to a comfortable 2-0 win to claim their place against Dorset rivals Corfe Mullen.

A close contest was settled by a single goal with Kerrie Dyer, in her more familiar attacking role, popping up in the Corfe box to slot past the keeper.

Southside Angels are looking for players for their under-12 and under-14 teams for next season, and a coach and players for their new under-10s team.
