RIAN Harvey, 15, returned to football after winning his battle with leukaemia in a goal-filled charity game at the Avenue.

Dorchester Youth Managers took on the Dorchester Youth Supporters in front of some 130 spectators at the home of the Magpies.

Supporters started the game brightly and, after some early pressure, Toby Pitman’s perfect corner was met by Cameron Dabbs’ head to open the scoring.

The Managers found their way back into the fixture and took a 2-1 lead into half-time, but the Supporters levelled through Kris Radivojsa’s superb solo run 10 minutes into the second period.

But in a dramatic 20-minute spell the Managers netted five times despite some fantastic saves from Supporters’ keeper and man of the match Nick Brown.

The Supporters never gave up and after neat play from Josh Wilkinson and Tom Foyle, Dean Boggust pulled a goal back.

But it was the inspirational Harvey who blasted home from 10 yards to score the 11th goal of a remarkable afternoon’s entertainment.

Harvey raised yet more money for his chosen charity, the Kingfisher Ward at Dorset County Hospital, on the day, while match organiser Caron Boggust reported that more than £1,115 had been pledged to Dorchester Magpies.
