DORCHESTER SECONDS 108 (1pt) lost to CATTISTOCK 110-1 (20pts) by 9 wickets

DORCHESTER’S wait for a win this season goes on after they were thrashed at home by Cattistock in Dorset League Division Two.

The hosts lost the toss and were put in to bat on a fairly soft wicket, and they got off to the worst possible start when Pete Diffy was bowled with the first ball of the game.

This brought Mike Peak to the crease to join Rhys Cole, playing his first match of the season, and the pair played some lovely shots in a partnership of 41.

Cole was bowled for 25 and the rest of the batsmen all came and went very cheaply.

Peak, pictured, finally went for a well-deserved 27 and Dorchester were all out for just 108.

Trying to defend that total was always going to be hard but opening bowlers Peak and Tom Blair, 15, performed well.

However, in the end only Younis Khan took a wicket, caught by skipper Stuart Beasley behind the stumps.

“It’s still the start of the season and we are still trying to get a settled team,” said the Dorchester captain.

“Hopefully this week we will have some more experienced players back and which is what we need to help settle the side and the youngsters we have.”

Mike Peak was named man of the match, sponsored by Durnovaria Wine Bar.
