TWO Sanchez Jansz-Baker goals secured the Blues seventh place in the Dorset Senior League at the end of boss Chris Hicks’ first campaign in charge.

Striker Jansz-Baker scored either side of half-time to give the hosts all three points in a game at Grove Corner that had a typical end-of-season feel to it.

The visitors rarely threatened the home side’s goal and their only real chance of note failed to trouble Blues’ keeper Matt Camp.

Reflecting on the season as a whole, Hicks said: “At the start of the season we wanted to finish higher, certainly with the squad we had.

“But all things considered – not playing much over Christmas and players missing – it was probably a fair result.

“We were guilty of not taking chances in games and too often we came away with one point when it should have been three.

“However, the last seven or eight games have been pleasing and we have shown how good we can be.

“The lads have been great and I have seen what they are capable of.

“We’ve had some decent results but we’ve also let ourselves down in other games.

“The club and the people involved have been great and I am more than happy I made the move here last summer.”

Looking forward, Hicks will be keeping his eyes open during the summer months for any potential new signings but doesn’t think there will be many changes for next season.

He added: “Getting new players in is never as easy as you think.

“I thought it would be easy getting some players involved this season but it didn’t go that way.

“I can’t foresee there being massive changes at the club over the summer but hopefully we can get a couple of new lads in and start afresh next sea- son.”
