WEYMOUTH St Paul’s Harriers celebrated the 60th anniversary of Roger Bannister famously breaking the four-minute mile by having a special mile relay event at the Marsh.

The athletes were split into teams of between four and five to see how fast they could run the mile around the track.

The senior road runners and some of the older juniors also ran the mile on their own and some hardy athletes did both the solo runs and the relay.

The Harriers would like to give thanks to all the coaches who helped to organise the event.

They would also thank Tony Pryce from Intersport in Dorchester, who sponsored the event and provided goody bags for all the athletes taking part.
