TERRAS’ player-manager Jason Matthews expressed his pride at making the squad for the Non-League Paper’s team of the year.

The stopper was pipped to a starting spot by Hemel Hemp-stead’s Laurie Walker, but was thrilled to be named among the Southern Premier League’s elite performers.

He told Echosport: “I was very pleased with how I played last year, from a personal point of view it was a good season back with the Terras.”

But although Matthews, pictured, has been regarded as one of the top glovemen in the division, he admits he is looking to bring in a number two goalkeeper for next season, and won’t be afraid to drop himself if needed.

He added: “We will look to be a bit more of a tight-knit unit and I won’t be afraid to leave myself out if I’m not doing the business, I have the right people around me who would tell me if I wasn’t and I would listen to them.

“We are keen to bring in a new number two and there should be a couple more signings on the way.”

Meanwhile, the club’s pre-season friendly against the Royal Marines has been rescheduled for Thursday, July 10 (7.45pm).
