DORSET’S Unicorns Championship Western Division campaign got off to a disastrous start at Dean Park today.
Taking on Devon, Chris Park’s side were skittled out in less than 30 overs for just 118 after winning the toss and deciding to bat.
Devon were 266-7 at the close of play, giving them a lead of 148 runs going into tomorrow’s second of three days.
The hosts had been facing total humiliation at one point in their innings with the score on 58-8, but a partnership of 53 between tail-enders Park (28) and Mark Wolstenholme (29) saved a few blushes.
Dorset did have their opponents at 17-3 early on in the reply, however, Rob Holman (43), Matt Golding (93no) and Max Curtis (65) steered Devon away from danger – Curtis and Golding put on 143 for the sixth wicket.
