PUDDLETOWN FC marks its 40th anniversary this year after enjoying one of its most successful campaigns in recent seasons.

The club not only won the Dorset League Division Four title, after a nail-biting last fixture of the season clash with rivals Milborne Sports, but also held aloft the Dorset Minor Cup after beating Allendale Reserves at the County Ground, Hamworthy.

Club chairman, Barry Knight said: “This has been an excellent season for the team and my thanks goes to all those who play a part in keeping grassroots football alive in the village.”

To celebrate the club’s success and the 40th anniversary, past and present players and club supporters will join together at the Colliton Club, Dorchester on Friday, July 11.

End-of-season presentations will be made and a patrons’ draw will take place to determine the team sponsor for the 2014/2015 kit.

Club secretary Amy Knight added: “There must be in the region of 200 former players out there.

“When we held the last reunion in 2001 we managed to get more than 230 former players and their partners together. “I wonder if we could do the same again.”

Tickets for the evening will be £5 on the door, with any profits being split between the club and the Recreation Ground. For further details, contact Amy on 848602 or Barry on 848380.
