A SECTION of Weymouth Cougars held their awards presentation after a hugely successful 2013/14 season for the mini and youth teams.

The Under-11s won their league last term and were presented with the championship trophy.

Individual awards also went to Jack Critchell (clubman of the year), Alex Taylor (most improved player of the year), Zane Sam-ways (parents’ player of the year), Joshua Leake (players’ player of the year) and Luke Hatherall (manager’s player of the year).

It proved to be a great season for the newly-formed team who only started playing together at the beginning of the campaign.

They also had success in winning the Cougars’ six-a-side and the Rossgarth six-a-side competitions, finishing runners-up at the Stalbridge five-a-side and Bere Regis six-a-side, and were third in the R&T Tournament.

The Under-8s, another new team, also received their trophies for a great season where they achieved some excellent results.

Further down the age groups, the Under-6s were given medals for their commitment and achievements in training.

They have shown confidence on the ball and great team work during their friendly fixtures, and are now looking forward to next season.

Also receiving a medal for their hard work in training were a few of the club’s Mini Kickers, who train on a Wednesday night at the Marsh.

Parents and children thanked the coaches and club officials at Weymouth Cougars for their support during the season.
