MIKE Kitson is set to become Dorset’s latest debutant, as the county look to stop the rot in their Unicorns Counties Championship campaign against Herefordshire at Eastnor tomorrow (11am).

The Bournemouth all-rounder, whose former clubs include the likes of Wimborne & Colehill and Winton, comes into the squad to replace Ed Denham, while Ryan Scott also re-joins the Dorset ranks in place of youngster Dom Hand.

On the addition of Kitson to his squad, county skipper Chris Park told Echosport: “His name was brought up to us by the captain of Bournemouth at the start of the season.

“We decided to keep an eye on him and he played in the Dorset development squad against Ox-fordshire and imp-ressed us last weekend.

“My vice-captain Jake Lintott captained the side in that game and went along to look at two or three players that we had our eyes on and Mike was the chosen one to come into the side this week.

“Hopefully he can give us something a little bit different and a little bit extra when needed to get a positive result.

“It is another opportunity to give a young Dorset lad an opportunity in Minor Counties cricket.”

Dorset have suffered heavy defeats in their first two three-day out- ings this term, but Park has faith in his troops to turn things around.

“It’s just a case of winning those moments and having the belief. We all play in club sides that are used to winning, so we need to keep that mentality.” he added.
