YOUNGSTERS from St John’s School in Weymouth competed in a whole host of events in the sunshine at their Asda Active Sports Day.
More than 100 children took to the field at Weymouth College to compete in an overall team competition, in vast array of different disciplines including the likes of a modified javelin event and relay races.
Each member of a team contributed to their group’s overall success.
The local supermarket, helped to run the event with the college, also provided healthy snacks and fruit for the pupils.
And Asda Community Life Champion Sandy West was delighted to see so many youngsters getting involved.
She said: “With 150 kids taking part it was great to see them all enjoying themselves so much.
“There were also a lot of mums and dads there and the kids were all cheered on, all of them were brilliant and tried their hardest.
“I’d also like to thank all the volunteers from Weymouth College who helped run the day and made it so successful for everyone.
“It was a great way to get kids interested in sport,” she added “We want to get involved with schools more and more and it gives the kids the chance to learn and work as a team.”
